Bertranna Muruthi, PhD, (she/her) is an assistant professor in the Department of Community Health & Prevention at Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health .
Dr. Muruthi hopes that the Drexel FIRST program helps to expand the breadth and depth of her knowledge of theoretical perspectives, research methodologies, and quantitative analytic techniques relevant to the study of immigrant families by specializing in interventions promoting health literacy.
The program will also enhance Muruthi’s academic career by helping her to develop a program of research specializing in interventions promoting health literacy, access to formal health care, and health utilization for immigrant families; pursue sustainable financial support for research on health disparities of immigrant families through completion and submission of grant applications; and demonstrate a sustained pattern of independent scholarship.
