Drexel FIRST is a partnership between Drexel University’s Dornsife School of Public Health and the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

These awards provide funds to recruit diverse cohorts of early stage research faculty on detecting, understanding or reducing health disparities within three thematic areas: Aging, Chronic Disease, and Environmental Determinants.

Drexel FIRST also aspires to catalyze institutional change to create and sustain a culture of inclusive excellence necessary for rigorous and impactful science.

As one of seven universities in the inaugural cohort of the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) FIRST initiative, Drexel is part of a national effort to increase diversity in biomedical and behavioral science research and create the institutional changes necessary to promote and sustain diversity and inclusion in health research.

Drexel FIRST involves leaders, faculty, and professional staff throughout the University engaged in supporting the advancement of our cohort of 11 early-stage researchers and transforming Drexel University to create and sustain a culture of research excellence that is diverse and inclusive.
